"Building Tap Technique" - Intermediate/Advanced Level

Ementa:

Class will focus on Building technique, tone, texture speed and clarity. Developing material in a variety of modes (swing, bop, latin). Musicality (learning words and melodies of Standards and Blues Heads). Improvisation (improvising in multiple modes. Conscious improvisation leading to spontaneous composition). Trading fours, eights, and whole choruses. Simultaneous and collective group improvisation. Composition (Ms. Bufalino will complete a composition for the class to be included in the New Tap Choreography Concert during the Winter Tap Intensive February 17-19, 2007).

"Creating Tap Dance Composition" - Intermediate/Advanced Level

Ementa:

Class includes: Using other class participants while creating structures ultimately leading to complete compositions, discussing methods and ideas for the construction of a multi-dimensional piece, finding the right music for your rhythmical and conceptual visions, making arrangements, creating medleys, working with musicians, creating a cappella compositions, using a cappella sections in a dance, developing a piece using vocals, words, and other art forms, how to include improvisation in compositions, the use of the segue, openings, and closings, developing a piece using vocals, words, and other art forms, dynamic staging, costuming, lighting, sound and other technical requirements for your piece The dancer’s completed work, or works-in progress, may be submitted for the New Tap Choreography Concert during the Winter Tap Intensive February 17-19, 2007.
